SAFETY & TRAINING HAS EVOLVED IN OUR INDUSTRY
A fresh look at safety and training in the transportation safety industry. Safety, in the transportation industry, has experienced constant change since the Saturday morning safety meetings with all the drivers present, boxes of doughnuts, pots of coffee, and exchange of information between the driver resource and management. We now operate in a world of social medial and digital information. It has become impossible to gather the entire fleet in one spot at one time. However, the need for the exchange remains vital, if not more so, today than ever before. Social media and digital information can be an effective way to maintain the exchange with your driver resource if it engages the connect between cause and effect. It must squarely present the cause of safety/management concern into an association with driver affect upon that concern to effect a change in behavior on the part of the driver resource. Videos, specific to this methodology, are available at transportationsafetyinc.com. Videos can be produced to fit your specific, unique situations as well. The two basic rules of an effective safety and training program are: 1) must meet the needs of safety/management, and 2) be palatable to the driver resource. Safety is not adversarial, it can, and should be, a WIN-WIN relationship between management and driver.
